East Arnhem Land N.T

This place is an explorers haven! Untouched land in remote Australia, home to the Yolngu people for over 50,000 years and despite ongoing pressure to conform to the Western way of life, the Yolngu people live with a strong cultural focus. North East Arnhem Land is part of the Aboriginal Land Trust and is held by the Northern Land Council on behalf of the traditional owners. If you visit here, you have the amazing opportunity to learn about their culture, their people, the history and their way of life. There are some beautiful unique art galleries you can visit which display traditional work of the locals. Check out https://yirrkala.com/ and

This spectacular landscape is dominated by tropical bushland, rocky outcrops & epic oceans. The entire region is dog friendly. If you're after a place where you can embrace a cultural experience with our lands traditional owners, with minimal people, camp sites virtually to yourself, serious four-wheel driving to breathtaking camps, incredible beaches and some of Australia's most amazing fishing, then this is the place for you. It's certainly not a place for the faint hearted. It's a 9 hr drive in from Katherine and you'll need a four wheel drive to get you there. You can't take your Caravan and you MUST get a PERMIT from the Northern Land Council to travel the road in and to camp there. It's also dry country, youll need a special permit to buy alcohol, which isn't easy, so you may have to go with out. But I'll tell you now, this region his so incredible and has so much to explore, you won't need a beer to make it enjoyable!
